1.Preparing the wall
Using a 3/16 notched trowel, spread the Manustic adhesive evenly over a clean, dry paint-free surface. Do not let the adhesive dry for more than 15 minutes before affixing bricks.
2.Position the decorative bricks
For the first row, lay the bricks on the floor in front of the wall surface to make sure they align with your measurements. Start the first row with a whole brick.
3. Align the brick rows
Begin the second rank with a half-brick. Alternate whole bricks and half-bricks at the start of each succeeding row. To cut a brick, use a drywall knife or a hand saw.
4. Prepare the mortar
Mix 5 cups of mortar with 2½ cups of water and stir 5 minutes, using a mortar whisk mounted on an electric drill. For best consistency, add a dash of liquid soap. Fill a container with mortar, and pour into the applicator cone.
5. Prepare the applicator cone
First, soften the cone by soaking it in lukewarm water. Then use it like a pastry chef's icing cone. Roll up the wide end to force the mortar mixture into the tip of the cone.
6.Fill the joints
Using the applicator cone, fill all joints between the bricks. Make sure to squeeze the mortar in all the way, so that the joint is completely filled.
7. Smooth the joints
Wearing rubber gloves tamp down and smooth out the joints evenly with your fingertips. The mortar will dry in 20 to 25 minutes.
8. Finish your brick wall
decorative bricks and joints with water. Simply use a cloth to wipe away dirt and stains.
